Welcome to the installation guide of TutsPlaza Premium Community Theme, before we begin we need to download/install one plugin which is ReTweet Anywhere. At the end I’m going to explain you how to install, activate and configure this plugin. First download a copy of wordpress (latest Version) and install it on your domain of choice, I’m not going to teach you how to install wordpress because there are plenty of guides on the net, just google for it.

1. Preparation

Step 1:

After you’ve purchased TutsPlaza unzip it and open up the tutsplaza/WP folder, you will find your theme in there, now upload the theme folder to wp-content/themes/ with your ftp application of choice.

Login to your wordpress back-end and navigate to Appearance -> Themes and activate the tutsplaza theme, once activated we need to remove the current dummy page, post and comment, remove them and then we will continue importing the posts, pages, comments, categories, and tags from the WordPress export file that was present inside the zip file.

We will do this by going to Tools –> Import and select “WordPress” ( when this is a fresh wordpress installation then you need to install the WordPress Importer plugin. )

Then on the next window locate your XML file and upload it, now you will be asked to map the authors in this export file to users on the blog. Select your account and select to import images/attachments as well. When all went well you will get a nice confirmation.

Step 2:

Now we need to activate the threaded (nested) comment settings, this setting is disabled by default, so if you want to use the threaded (nested) comments then go to Settings –> Discussion and select “Enable threaded (nested) comment …”

Step 3:

Let’s move on with the Permalink setting, we all want some nice and clean links for our page, category and posts titles. To achieve this just go to Settings –> Permalinks and select “Custom Structure” write /%postname%/ inside the input field, there’s one problem though, some hosts are handling these permalink settings differently, when the normal method does not work try to ad this index.php?/%postname%/ or else contact your host for help on this matter.

2. Theme Options

General Settings

Click on the tutsplaza settings tab to open up the theme’s option panel. Let’s continue with the first item inside the panel, the General Settings, at this section you can select your theme’s alternative color scheme, enter the url of your logo and ad the google analytics code.

Social Media & Sharing

Next item inside the theme’s option panel will be the Social Media & Sharing Settings, at this section you’re able to set up the sidebar subscribe box, this section is build in and fully editable throughout this tab. Don’t you want this box to appear inside the sidebar, no problem. Just check the checkbox to enable or disable the subscribe box on the top of your sidebar. Then your able to change the RSS feed description, twitter description, RSS Feed URL, RSS E-mail link and Twitter account.

Footer Settings

Next item on the list will be the Footer Copyright Input, this section is made just to make your life a lot easier, no need to open up the footer.php file.

Banner ad management

Last item on the list will be the Banner ad management, the themes has plenty of advertisement options. A large 728×90 banner at the top, a 582×116 banner inside the single page and 2 custom advertisement widgets. The first two we will configure here.

3. Custom widgets

This theme is using 3 Custom Widgets, two advertisements widgets and a popular posts widget.

To use them just drag them in to your sidebar widgetized area, the footer is also widget ready, i would suggest not to use those custom widgets inside the footer, not that they won’t work in there but it’s looking better inside the sidebar.

4. Setting up the ReTweet Anywhere Plugin

Donwload the ReTweet Anywhere Plugin and upload it to your wp-content/plugins/ folder. Then activate it and open up the plugin settings.

1. Twitter Api Key, follow the instruction explained here
2. Popup Title, ad here the text you want inside the popup, above the tweet.
3. Retweet Format, Default will do, when you want another format just follow the faq
4. URL Shortner, select your url shortener. Options are Bit.ly or Don’t shorten, when you select Bit.ly you need a Bit.ly account.
5. Bit.ly Username, after creating an account ad your Bit.ly username in here.
6. Bit.ly Api Key, Follow this link to find out where your Api Key is located.
7. Placement, select Manual (PHP or Shortcode), this Shortcode is already set up and will be active at the moment you save these settings.
8. Button Style, select Custom Style. We’ve already styled this element for you.
9. Custom HTML, Ad the text ReTweet in here, or ad something else as long as you don’t make the text to long.
10. Background Opacity, leave this on default.
